Support

Heed the Prophets is a free player for talks given by apostles and prophets. It holds the Journal of Discourses: 1,349 talks given between 1839 and 1886, with AI narration of each one being added now. Until the narration is in, Read ↗ opens each talk’s text.

For a talk, include its title or its JD reference (for example JD 5:120) and about where in the talk (for example 12:30). It also helps to say which device and browser or app you were using.

About the narration

No recordings were made of these talks; they survive as reports taken down in shorthand and printed. Each one here is read aloud from the printed Journal of Discourses by a computer-generated voice. It is a synthetic voice, not the speaker’s own and not a copy of it. Each speaker is given one stock voice so you can tell them apart. Every recording begins by saying it’s narrated by an AI voice, and the list marks each one AI narration.

The computer voice may mispronounce some names and places. Reports help fix them.

Read ↗ opens each talk’s printed text on BYU’s Scripture Citation Index.
